August, 2010

Dear Golfers, Friends & Good Samaritans,

The Grevey Foundation’s 22nd Annual Charity Golf Classic is set for Monday, September 20, 2010, at Westwood Country Club. It's a great time to catch up with friends, relieve a little stress and raise money for some worthy causes. I hope you will be able to join me again this year. Here are the basics; more details attached:

Shamble format
Registration, driving range and practice green open 10:30 am
Shotgun start, noon
Lunch buffet, 11:00 - 2:00
Snacks available any time
Beverage cart roams all day

Tradition dictates that we wrap up around 5:00 and head over to Grevey's for short but meaningful awards presentation, silent auction, open bar and manly man's dinner. Without overstating the obvious, don't eat before you go.

Proceeds from this year's event support Fairfax County Public Schools, D.C. Scores, New Hope for Cambodian Children, Cows for Kids/The Boma Fund, and The Grevey Foundation's Annual Drills & Skills Camp. Registration form and Information about the foundation, tournament and levels of participation are attached; more will follow as the date draws closer. Sandy and I appreciate your past support and hope we can count on you again this year.

You don't need to respond to this email. If you can join us, just complete the registration form and send it back to me with a check. Or fax it, and send the check separately. Don't forget to update your contact information, especially your e-mail address. If you have any questions, just give me a call at 703-409-9456 (c).

Best regards,

Kevin Grevey
Tournament Czar

The Grevey Foundation is one of many small private charities that provide essential support to thousands of communities throughout the country. Our mission is to build a brighter future for children through education, community activities and improved living standards. Most of the money we raise is put to work right here in our own community, however, we support programs that provide critical aid to children in other parts of the world, too.

The Charity Golf Classic is the foundation's largest and most important fundraising event. It attracts a wide variety of golfers, including leaders in the area's business, sports, government and social communities. Now in its 22nd year, many of our players and sponsors have been with us since the beginning.

The net proceeds from this single annual event have helped the foundation:
• Prepare Fairfax County Public School students for the future by funding vital technology initiatives not provided for in the state or local education budget.

• Give a hand-up to hundreds of disadvantaged children and teenagers in Washington D.C. by funding scholarships, mentoring programs and after school community activities.

• Keep at-risk Fairfax County middle-schoolers safe and engaged by sustaining the foundation’s Sports & Life Skills summer camp for seven straight years.

• Create hope for orphaned and abandoned children with HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis by donating to a well-managed NGO, where even the smallest monetary donation literally changes lives.

As a non-profit, The Grevey Foundation is sustained by its friends -- individuals, families, corporations and businesses that support our mission to make the world a better place for children. We are deeply grateful for your past support and hope we can count on you to help us make this our best tournament ever. Whether you participate as a sponsor, individual player or in-kind donor, we can’t thank you enough!

Thank you.
